Director of Demand Generation (EMEA)

Job description

Note: Although this is a remote position, we are only looking for candidates in time zones between UTC-1 and UTC+4.


We’re looking for a motivated, passionate people-and-customer-first Director of Demand Generation to join our growing marketing team. Reporting to the VP of Marketing, you’ll form part of Marketing’s leadership and will represent the left side of the team’s brain—the quantitative, data-driven side. You’ll help take our marketing strategy to the next level. 


At Hotjar we help marketing, product, and UX teams answer the questions their traditional analytics can’t, helping them provide a better user experience. You'll grow our footprint and market share by increasing product awareness and driving lead growth. You’ll do this by nurturing and leading a successful, motivated, and happy team that puts the customer at the centre of everything.


You will:

  • Lead a small, agile, and collaborative team of Paid and Organic specialists, responsible for driving efficient MQL growth.

  • You lead by example, and know how to nurture a successful, motivated, and happy team. 

  • Motivate the team to use their strengths through living and breathing our Hotjar values.

  • Maintain and improve our demand capture strategies (Paid and Organic Search).

  • Initiate, measure, and scale our demand-generation strategies which increase our footprint within the market. 

  • Manage our LTV/CAC ratio, ensuring we balance risk and reward in a scalable way.

  • Own Marketing’s day-to-day budget management to ensure we’re always on top of our spend and efficiency.

  • Have a seat on our “Attract and Convert” Tribe leadership team, representing Marketing on a company level.


  • You have a background of running large search campaigns, preferably for a fast-growing, low-mid-range ASP SaaS business.
  • You’ve had success in demand-gen tactics (YouTube advertising, display, content, and other) for a product in a fledgling market.

  • You’re a quantitative marketer who puts the customer in the middle of everything.

  • Numbers and data proficiency is your mother tongue, you bring the left side to Marketing’s brain.

  • You’ve got a strong working knowledge of self-serve SaaS business models and know how to assess growth levers and ruthlessly prioritise which ones to pull.

  • Experience promoting agreement among team members with different interests

The budgeted compensation range for this role is €80,000 to €110,000, annually. Ranges are based on market research and are equitable to other roles within Hotjar. The actual compensation offered to our new team member will be based on relative experience. At this time we are only able to provide official employment status to those located in Malta, the UK and Germany. All other new team members will join as full-time consultants and will be responsible for paying any taxes or applicable fees where they reside.
