Reporting to the Director of Brand, you will be responsible for developing and scaling Hotjar’s graphic design efforts throughout the full marketing funnel, delivering true delight at every turn to our prospects and existing customers. Additionally, you will lead and nurture the careers of our four incredibly talented graphic designers and further grow the team.

You are a design leader who blends creativity and a hunger for data, with experience in growing an expert team, excellent storytelling skills and a deep understanding of developing creative campaigns. You are deeply passionate about growing people to their full potential and excel at working cross-functionally to build and execute design strategy. You are results-driven, a big-ideas person, and are able to construct and evolve a measurement framework to connect content to business results.

The Head of Design will be a key part of our Marketing Leadership team. You will work closely with your fellow cross-functional leaders and Exec team to develop, inspire and drive our marketing strategy, brand narratives, business outcomes, and joint OKRs.

You will:

  • Lead the creation of new creative campaigns that will dramatically increase our customer acquisition capabilities, whilst delivering value to our target customers.

  • Lead, guide, grow, and nurture the creative chapter, our incredibly talented graphic designers distributed in multiple squads in our funnel-based department structure.

  • Bring joy to our team and our customers, elevate our game, and drive great work.

  • Be the customer - explore the questions and challenges that current and potential customers are facing, so we know how to answer them.

  • Prioritize brilliantly - be bold and move fast, be radically candid and prioritize our biggest growth opportunities.

  • You will roll your sleeves up and work right there alongside your team, creating experiences that delight.


  • A minimum of 6 years in design and a minimum of 4 years in a leadership role managing a team of 5 or more.

  • Hands-on experience in concepting, testing and executing creatives tied to clear goals and ROIs.

  • Experience in managing agencies.

  • Data-driven and have proven ability to make decisions on design through the use of data, testing and research.

Compensation Range

The compensation range for a team member in this role is €75,000 to €100,000 annually where the offer typically falls in the range of €85,000 to €90,000. Our ranges are established after performing market research and the specific compensation amount of the offer will be determined based on relative experience, skills, and equity across the team.
